Journey to Personal Greatness Mind, Body & Soul Author: Alvin Brown.

On Wednesday June 22, 2016 I had the opportunity to speak with Alvin Brown. Life is a long winding journey of exploring our purpose and passion through experience. Alvin Brown, states: “Greatness is knowing that you are able to live out your purpose.” Pg. 14. You can find this in the first few pages of his book. It wakes you up and opens a door for you to ask you self, do I believe I can live my purpose?

There is so much wisdom and insight throughout this book. My favourite part about Alvin’s book is, he was able to be vulnerable and authentic with his reader. Often books about how to achieve greatness give you a formula, but they forget to tell you what it might feel like. Or how you will know when you get there.

Alvin removes the veil and shares his experiences and the process through his realizations. In chapter 9, he explores the spiritual essence of being human. He tells us the tragic story of loss, but is able to come to this beautiful conclusion.

“…between our internal and external lives, there is a bridge that helps to create the connection and make the physical life possible, and the things that form that bridge, I’ve discovered, is our breath. Breathing is linked to the initiation of life as well as the cessation of life.” Pg. 197

Although he is well versed in what it takes to become a peak performing athlete through his personal journey and training others, he believes that exercising the mind is just as important, as it is interconnected to achieving greatness holistically. He has four exercises that will assist you in balancing your mental essence, which are meditation, journaling, affirmations and language patterns. In chapter four where he focusses on the mind he gives the reader hope that we can change. He touches upon neuroplasticity and its power to assist us with making changes in our life and brain, challenging the idea that brain development was stagnant after a particular point in one’s life.

I wouldn’t be doing his book justice if I simply left it at this. He explores the mind, body and soul psychologically, scientifically and energetically.  This book takes you through the essential elements that make us human. Our mental, emotional, physical, chemical, material and spiritual essence. He is able to do this because of his extensive training in psychology, massage therapy, nutrition, fitness, reiki, crano-sacral therapy and much more. He is a dynamic and holistic healer. You can find him at his clinic in Pickering. The Centre for Healing and Peak Performance.

When you have an opportunity pick up a copy of this beautifully written book, that can speak to the daily practical experience of being on a journey to greatness.  Read more about Alvin ands book. about this book! Purchase book here!
